Who I Am

I’m a 24-year-old living in Madison, Wisconsin, U.S.A. I write and edit for a living, but I also do those things for a kick in my free time. I’m forever falling in love with web design and development. This and Here is History are my two current personal projects.

When I’m not glued to my computer (thanks, Dwarf Fortress), I’m out on one of my bicycles. Everyone should own a bicycle—it makes you a happier person. If you’re responsible enough, you should also own a dog. Mine is named Pretzel.

About This Site

About a year ago, I came to a conclusion: I didn’t want my writing for the web to be static in appearance. I didn’t want it to be restricted. Magazines are full of beautiful art direction that is unique for each article—why not the same for the web? That is the philosophy on which I built this site. I have things to say, and I want to say them as beautifully as I can.

I did not come to this conclusion alone. I have been inspired by the likes of Jason Santa Maria (who, it seems, pioneered this concept years ago), David DeSandro, and Trent Walton. I’m sure there are others trying this, too.

The site is run on Stacey, a different kind of content management system. You can read about my thoughts on Stacey, if you’d like. It works very well for this purpose.

Hire Me

I’m currently available to take on most anything. I hand-code standards-compliant HTML and CSS with all the latest bells and whistles, if they’re to your liking. I’m well-versed in JavaScript/jQuery, and over the years, I’ve dug deep into Wordpress again and again.

I’m new to the game, so I don’t have much in the way of a portfolio at the moment. But if you like what you see, we can work something out. Get in touch.
